Italy Overview

Italy is a country with something for everyone. It offers a wide range of unique travel experiences .There are so many beautiful areas to visit, with unique landscapes, fantastic ruins, some of the best museums in the world, friendly people, and food to die for! Most people have heard of the major destinations such as Rome, Florence, Venice, Pisa, and Milan, but they are just the beginning of what Italy has to offer.

Rome
Rome is a city so rich in history, that you almost have to divide your sightseeing into at least two sections: ancient ruins, and everything else. Some of the most wonderful ruins of Europe lay in the heart of Rome. There are wonderful adventures ranging from the Lake District in Northern Italy, to Tuscany & Umbria, to the amazing Amalfi Coast, and the beautiful islands of Capri, and Sicily. We are constantly trying to find unique, charming places for travellers to experience throughout all of Italy.

Florence
Florence is credited with the birthplace of the Renaissance . Every imaginable variation of Florence walking tours includes a trip to the Duomo. A wondrous and overwhelming sculpture in the center of town, its giant golden dome is visible all through Florence .It is layer upon layer of gray. The best way to see Florence is to wander the ancient streets, enter little churches, and boutiques that abound. You are sure to find a unique souvenir. While you are in Florence, allow a day for an excursion into the Tuscany countryside, visiting the small village of San Gimignano - still as it was in the 15th Century - and beautiful Siena, home of the Palio.

Weather is definitely important, however, because Florence walking tours are a fundamental part of a visit to this city. During the summer the extensive masonry raises the temperature within city limits a good 5 degrees, while in the winter even the afternoon sky is thick, moist and threatening. But inside these daunting, military-style buildings, the vast artistic treasures stand second to none, while nearby restaurants in Florence Italy are always on call to fortify your stomach for your next journey into the city.

A complete tour of Florence Italy can be finished in a day or in a month. It depends on how much you enjoy the myriad art exhibits at your disposal. The Academia has a wide arrangement of striking sculptures and other works, but they are more like an afterthought next to the gallery's main attraction: Michelangelo's David. Florence seems to birth replicas of David overnight, as smaller scale versions of the masterpiece seem to pop up in almost every piazza or town square throughout the city.

Venice
A city of incomparable beauty, romance and artistic wealth is built on 100 islands and connected by over 400 bridges. It is definitely a unique place to visit. The history of Venice Italy is unclear. The city was first formed by refugees escaping from barbarian hordes, weary evacuees who gave up their land for the possibility of freedom upon the nearby islands deemed uninhabitable by many at the time. Like their ancestors, the Venetians are running again.

A city of water and of light, with an atmosphere which is at once fascinating and distrubing, its fragile fabric of canals and palazzi, churches, alleyways and campi has somehow survived the threats of both flood and mass tourism, and remarkably little has changed throughout the centuries. Nowhere in Venice will you see an ugly sight; even the Macdonalds near the Rialto is just about bearable.

Allow time for an excursion to the three main islands. Murano is famous for glassware; Burano, with its colorfully painted fisherman's cottages, is famous for its lace; and Torcello is a small village with a lovely large church. See the Piazza San Marco, ride along the Grand Canal in a Gondola, and see the Bridge of Sighs. Relax and enjoy in the most beautiful destinations in the world.
